A midsummer night with Shakespeare in Paris

Have you been checking out Paris quartier d’été? There are many interesting concerts and spectacles, and tonight you have two French interpretations of the renowned English bard, William Shakespeare.

Tonight, Saturday, July 31 at 22:00 in Invalides, the Malandain Ballet Biarritz with Thierry Malandain is doing a unique interpretation of the timeless classic Romeo & Juliet. It’s the last night of the show in Paris, so it’s sure to be special.

Contemporary ballet master Thierry Malandain and his dancers give a new interpretation of the most famous of love stories. To the score of Berlioz’ oratorio, the eternal family feud and unhappy end begin anew, carved in the Invalides stone.

Please note: At the time of posting this the online reservations were closed. I talked with the management and they said there are still seats available, only you have to go to the box office to get them. Your best bet is to get there early. If you’re near Invalides we’d recommend going there this afternoon to reserve your seats. We apologize for the late notice!

If you’re in the mood for something with a more urban feel, check out 26 000 Couverts, tonight, Saturday July 31 at  at Le Monfort. They’re doing a modern rendition of Much Ado About Nothing.

What happens when one of France’s most daring posse of street actors set their efforts on the Great Will? No labor’s lost in their uncanny version of Much Ado About Nothing, where, on a midsummer night, all that’s well… well… might not end well.

As with the Malandain Ballet Biarritz, online reservations are closed for tonight’s show, but you can still get some last minute ones at the box office by showing up early (or so says the management). However, you can still check out the show August 2-6 and reserve tickets ahead of time here.
