Les Triplettes de belleville by Sylvain Chomet
Cinéma en plein air édition 2011 in Parc de la Villette will be showing 30 films in original version with subtitles. This year’s theme is “la rue”, and, according to the program’s director, highlights the cinematic excellence afforded by the often-gritty and photogenic atmospheres found on these urban pathways.
Grab some friends and picnic gear and enjoy the seventh art in the summertime bliss of Parc de la Villette. The program kicks off, appropriately enough, with the “street” film par excellence, Scorcese’s Taxi Driver, and finishes with another classic, West Side Story. FIlmmakers from accross the globe are represented, including: Pedro Almodóvar, Sylvain Chomet, Nanni Moretti, Michel Gondry, Wong Kar-wai, Woody Allen, Aki Kaurismäki, Wim Wenders and others.
When: July 19-August 21 2011, Tuesday-Sunday, starting at sunset (around 21:45)
Where: Prairie du triangle

App for Parc de la Villette
Saturday, July 16th, 2011
“La Villette” covers 55 hectares and is the largest urban park in the city. Designed with culture in mind, it’s no surprise that plenty of interesting activities take place here year-round. The park released an official app last June which should make setting your agenda easier. It includes geo-location capabilities making it easier to find and learn about 26 of the park’s remarkable features. It includes interviews, photos, historical facts and practical information as well.
At the moment the app is only available in French, but English is coming soon.
Download it free here.
