Felix Ziem has a special place in art history from the late nineteenth century. His painting is mainly devoted to the landscape. With its roots in the Pleinair Barbizon, it falls outside the pictorial revolutions of his time. Driven by a fierce desire to paint, Ziem was an autodidact and a nomad.
