La Conciergerie

La Conciergerie

Information:

Once a royal palace, the Conciergerie is probably the first prison in the city of Paris. It had a dark history in the French Revolution as almost 3,000 prisoners were taken from the Conciergerie for execution on the guillotine at various places around the city. It was also the seat of judicial power and the Parliament once. Visit the Hall of the Guards, which is among the largest surviving medieval parts here.
