Parc de la Villette
Information:
"La Villette" is a unique park designed with a focus on culture rather than nature -- despite this the large expanses of green make for pleasant picnicking opportunities in the summer. Created by Bernard Tshumi architects, this award-winning park built on the grounds of a former abattoir, was designed under the consultation of Jacques Derrida, the deconstructionist philosopher. The most recognizable aspect of the park are the folies -- red-enameled structures made of steel that support diverse cultural activities.
